Target Audience
The field notes magazine appeals to a diverse and broad readership. Its readers are interested in contemporary music (new music, music theater, improvised and real-time music, classical music, electronic and electroacoustic music, sound art, and Klangkunst) and are also open to related fields of contemporary art. In this context, they seek not only information about current concert programs and developments but also critical reflections and discursive engagement with trends in the contemporary art and music scene.
The readership consists of concertgoers (frequent attendees with medium to high expertise in music), curators, journalists, musicians, cultural managers, students, musicologists, and an audience eager to experiment. Most readers live in the Berlin-Brandenburg area, with strong representation in the districts of Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Lichtenberg, Pankow, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, and Neukölln. The magazine also has a strong presence in other German cities such as Leipzig, Potsdam, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt am Main. The age structure of the readership spans from older generations to younger adults, with most readers between 25 and 45 years old. The gender distribution is nearly balanced.
The Magazine is published in German, with selected content also in English.

For event recommendations (Feldfund), please fill out this form↗ with all relevant event information by the respective editorial deadline. Don't forget to also enter the event in the online calendar. Selected Feldfunde will be announced in field notes magazine on half a page.
Selection Process for Feldfunde and Articles
The editorial team reviews all submissions and decides based on an overall perspective which contributions can be included in the print edition. Our goal is to provide a balanced overview of concerts in the editorial section of the magazine. We ensure a fair representation of new music, music theater, sound art, improvisation, Echtzeitmusik, and electroacoustic/electronic music. Additionally, we strive to feature a variety of different actors across issues, with a special focus on artists from the independent scene. The field notes magazine also aims to reflect greater societal diversity in its programming.
We kindly ask for your understanding if your event cannot be included. However, if your event was submitted in time for the editorial deadline via the online calendar, it will at least be listed in the magazine’s calendar section with a short description. Alternatively, we are happy to include your event in our newsletter or on our Facebook page.
